Philippine Coast Guard and auxiliary personnel joined efforts in Torrijos, painting classrooms at Payanas and Bayakbakin elementary schools to prepare for the school year.
Volunteer personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard and the Auxiliary 510th Squadron Marinduque joined local teachers in Torrijos. The teams prepared facilities at Payanas Elementary School and Bayakbakin Elementary School. The work readies both campuses for the 2026???2027 school year.
Auxiliary Captain Ivy Rioflorido-Diaz and Coast Guard officers led the cleanup crew of 15 members. The volunteers painted chairs, classroom walls, and exterior fences. Teachers Janette Senen Rosas-Medina and Enalyn Monteclaro-Villaruel thanked the officers for their support. The annual preparation program highlights community cooperation in the province.
Torrijos lies on the eastern coast of Marinduque. The municipality is famous for its agricultural valleys and Poctoy White Beach. Visitors and volunteers traveling to eastern towns usually arrive via Lucena ferries at Balanacan Port in Mogpog, then ride local transport across the island.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary plans more school support projects across other municipalities. These efforts ensure children return to clean, encouraging learning environments.
