The national government released ₱43.6 million across all 218 Marinduque barangays to boost local youth scholarships and community projects.
The Office of the President released ₱43.6 million from the Socio-Civic Projects Fund. The fund spans across the entire province of Marinduque. Every single one of the 218 barangays receives exactly ₱200,000. Vice Governor Dr. Romulo Bacorro Jr. received the checks at the 2026 Liga ng mga Barangay National Congress in Pasay City. He accepted the national funding on behalf of Governor Melecio Go.
Barangay councils are finalizing their local budgets. For instance, Barangay Buliasnin in Boac will split its ₱200k allotment evenly. They will spend ₱100,000 to grant ₱20,000 scholarships to five college seniors. The remaining ₱100,000 will buy community assets like public event tents and chairs.
This initiative ensures that no town is left behind. Boac's 61 barangays get ₱12.2 million. Sta. Cruz receives ₱11 million for its 55 barangays. Mogpog claims ₱7.4 million for 37 barangays. Gasan and Torrijos each get ₱5 million for their 25 barangays. Buenavista secures ₱3 million for its 15 barangays. Local officials note this money will help complete projects delayed by tight budgets.
