Barangay Laylay in Boac hosts its annual Pansitan Festival on May 25, 2026, showcasing its proud status as the municipality's official pansit capital.
Barangay Laylay in Boac is preparing to celebrate its 65th founding anniversary, known as Araw ng Laylay, with the return of the delicious Pansitan Festival on May 25, 2026. Locals and visitors will gather to enjoy vibrant street parades and taste the community's signature noodle dishes. This annual event has grown into one of Boac's premier gastro-tourism celebrations, honoring both history and flavor.
The local government officially established Laylay's culinary identity in 2021. The Sangguniang Bayan of Boac passed Municipal Ordinance No. 2021-312, authored by then-Councilor Aurelio J. Leva III, formally declaring Barangay Laylay as the "Pansit Capital" of Boac. This ordinance legally institutionalized the annual Pansitan Festival to boost local tourism and preserve unique cooking traditions.
This year's festival will feature a packed schedule of community events. Dancers will fill the streets wearing noodle-themed costumes for the street dancing competition. Locals will also compete in cooking face-offs, local pageants, and high-energy bancathons (traditional boat races) along the coast. Organizers aim to expand the festival next year to attract more national and international tourists.
